A new generation of 'Clean and Clever' thermoform packaging machines has been introduced by Multivac. The first model of the new line is the high performance R535.

The new machines are said to speed up the cleaning process considerably. Angled surfaces allow liquids to drain and there are no dead spaces or inaccessible niches. This concept is supported by clean-in-place (CIP) technology, a new concept for thermoform packaging machines.

The CIP system automates the chemical cleaning of chain, chain guide and internal machinery by an extensive system of jets and pipes.

The new machines have cut-off lengths of 1.3m and can form 250 vacuum or modified atmosphere packages a minute. A new 'drawer' concept allows the quick and easy changing of formats without disassembling the hot upper part of the tool.
