CoSaf Environments, distributor of Seeley International's Breezair evaporative cooling systems, has helped keep workers more comfortable at Aimia Foods.

Aimia supplies food and beverages to the vending, foodservice and retail markets. It packs its products in a sealed, hygienic environment using form, fill and seal machines; shrink tunnels; and dust extraction units. But with heat from the machines causing temperatures to rise to above 28°C, the company wanted to find a method of cooling the workplace that would not introduce contaminants into the environment.

Breezair evaporative coolers contain large filter pads which are kept wet. Hot air is drawn through the pads by centrifugal fan and cooled by the evaporative process. In this way, the air is cooled without introducing water droplets. Air is not recirculated and the water washes out any impurities from the incoming air.

This method met the need for a pollutant-free environment. It also provides a gentle breeze rather than turbulent air so that powdered raw materials are not scattered during packing.
