Bell Bakers, supplier of supermarket pies, pastry and cakes, has invested in automated batch process control systems at its modern, bespoke bakery in Shotts, North Lanarkshire.

In a move to keep up to date with modern technology, Bell Bakers commissioned and installed the Protrace Blend batch process control system from Practicon. Before it installed Protrace, all mixing and blending operations were manual, which caused problems with consistency of quality.

The Protrace system has given Bell Bakers control and consistency and prevented overmixing. Also, traceability and efficiency have been improved, maximising productivity.

Practicon tailored the Protrace system for both of the Scottish bakery's dough manufacturing and meat processing plants.
