An anti-microbial technology has been launched by Byotrol for all members of the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (AIMS), enabling them to provide total hygiene control across the supply chain. The aim is to cut hygiene costs and eliminate the need to change cleaning products every few months to combat germ resistance.

Currently, the cost of treating water used for cleaning is £4 per tonne. But the toxicity of Byotrol biocide products is much lower than many other disinfectants and its components are biodegradable, so cutting disposal costs.

Products can be used throughout the supply chain for anything from general cleaning to production line sanitisation. They are available in three distinct ranges. The Intersphere range controls micro-organisms which develop on the interior and exterior walls of buildings such as abattoirs. Several formats are available, from 750ml trigger sprays to five litre and 20 litre concentrate containers.

The Nanosphere range has been designed specifically for food processing industries and includes products that can prevent and combat food spoilage organisms such as Pseudomonas and E.Coli. The Agrisphere range is pitched at farmers and includes Dairycleanse concentrate liquid for dilution in open plant and cubicles.

"I am confident that Byotrol's extensive product range will provide our members with the peace of mind and knowledge that their abattoir is consistently protected from the spread of bacteria," said AIMS operations manager Janet Frank.
