Joseph Heler Cheese has invested more than £200,000 in a fully automated, multi-head weigher and bagging system capable of producing one, two, five and 10kg bags of cheese.

The machine can deliver Heler's full range of products in grated, diced, fine bowl chopped, powdered and mixed grated blends to order, for maximum shelf-life.

The new equipment provides a vertically integrated facility, from milk to finished pack product, thus shortening the supply chain for customers.

Joseph Heler, a major supplier to the ingredients and food services sectors, developed its grating plant in response to growing customer demand.

John Chattell, ingredient sector manager at Heler, based near Nantwich in Cheshire, said: "Investment in a fully automated grating system will strengthen our offering and relationship with customers. We work very closely with our ingredients customers and the new investment in our grating plant means we can offer individually tailored products across our full range."
