Consumers looking to spice up their lives can rely on a new range of chilli jellies to set their tastebuds on fire.

North Wales-based Seren Foods uses red finger chillies grown in the nearby Ceiriog Valley. Its Medium Chilli Jelly is described by the firm as "sociably hot", while specially selected green bird's eye chillies give its Mighty Chilli Jelly variant a long, hot taste.

Gafyn Davies, who founded Seren Foods with his wife Carys, says the products have a good following in the local area. "We have one customer who is a hardened fan. He spreads Mighty Chilli Jelly on toast for breakfast," he adds."We don't recommend that, but we do think these jellies are great with barbecue food and burgers and are also good as a spice with Asian food."

The couple have added the chilli jellies to their existing range of wine jelly condiments which, they say, are is particularly good eaten as an accompaniment to cheese.
