Driven by demand from the convenience food sector for total packaging solutions, D2 Food Systems has launched its Ulma Scorpius 600-tray sealing system, complete with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) dome lid-sealing facility. Offering enhanced flexibility and reliability, the machine has been developed for high-quality heat sealing of sister company D2 Europack's award-winning* dome-style containers. These are designed for a wide range of convenience food products, such as ready-to-cook whole poultry or meat joints.

Suitable for heat sealing both dome and standard packs, the system operates at speeds up to 60 packs per minute and offers the option of MAP for extended shelf-life. It provides a strong peelable seal making the packs easy to open as well as preventing spillage and ensuring product integrity when in transit and on shelf. D2 Food Systems md Dave Edwards says: "We are delighted with the result which underlines our commitment to offering a complete packaging solution comprising trays, lids and sealing machines."

D2 Europack is exhibiting at the Total Process & Packaging show in Birmingham from May 15 to 18. See our preview on pages 59, 60 and 63.

  • D2 Europack recently won a Packaging Innovation award for its Smoothdome packs at the CIFA show at Rennes, France.
