Ready meal cartons go greener

Alexir Packaging, specialist manufacturer of printed folding cartons, has developed a more environmentally friendly packaging solution for ready meals, salads and other tray-based products.

Alexipack, to be seen on stand A41, is produced from sustainable and renewable resources. It is recyclable and much lighter than existing packaging formats. It enables packs to retain gas and have leak resistant qualities. And it is suitable for microwave, chiller and freezer.

Alexipack is available in a number of different formats. The top-of-the-range version has an ovenable film window, flat flanges to improve production.

The company's new Compostable range can be produced to meet specific requirements, such as a board tray with a film window that is fully compostable, to help retailers remove or substantially reduce plastic from their shelves.
