A new insulated panel system has been launched by Hemsec Manufacturing in response to the need for greater fire protection in food, hygiene and temperature-controlled environments.

FireCheck FC 1150 PIR insulated panel systems exceed the fire protection performance standards laid out by the UK insurance industry, says Hemsec, which provides environmental construction solutions.

Not only that, claims Hemsec's sales manager Brian Harrington, but using the panels can also reduce premiums. "FireCheck wall and ceiling panels meet all requirements for Loss Prevention Certification Board approval [which] will go a long way towards offsetting the high insurance premiums currently being charged for this category of risk," he explains.

The panels are made in the UK to exacting ISO 9001 quality standards and are the result of extensive research, says the firm.

The steel substrate facings and polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core are fire-rated up to 60 minutes, while both outer and inner facings have Class 1 surface spread of flame to BS476. They are Class 0 as defined by the UK Building Regulations and produce low smoke emissions and no flammable droplets.

FireCheck panels are available in a range of thicknesses and finishes, have a high strength-to-weight ratio and are quick and easy to install.
