Children are notoriously fussy when it comes to food, so trying to include fruit in their diets has proved challenging for even the most doting of parents.

However, help is at hand with a clutch of new kid-friendly products designed to help boost children's fruit consumption.

Müller's Little Stars children's range offers a variety of products. Less is more for the selection of fromage frais, high juice jelly, yoghurt drink and smooth yoghurt, which contain an average of just six natural ingredients.

The launch is being supported by a £4.5M marketing investment to include TV, poster and press advertising. The products are priced between £1.38 and £2.76 and come in a variety of fruit flavours.

Del Monte has also been reformulating Fruitini Jelly pots with children in mind. All jelly variants now contain 98% fruit juice per pot and the substance contains no bits. The firm hopes that the smooth texture will appeal to children, while the pack has been redesigned with a foil lid to make it user friendly.

Fruitini Jelly is available in Orange, Strawberry, Raspberry and Blackcurrant flavours and retails at 38p for a single 120g pot or £1.39 for a multipack of four.

"The ambient dessert category is currently witnessing double digit growth year-on-year as more consumers are visiting the category; buying more and more frequently," says Del Monte product manager Caroline Tuffs. The company claims that Fruitini is best placed to become a regular feature in the 5.5M lunchboxes packed each year in the UK.
