Aico has fire safety all wrapped up with new sleeves
With the responsibility for fire safety shifting to the employer, it is now more important than ever for manufacturers to ensure their systems are as foolproof as possible.
Fire safety specialist Aico has launched four new products designed to do just that.
The Firecap Electrical Trunking Fire Sleeves claim to prevent the spread of fire through service penetrations made for electrical trunking. Three of the sleeves - Firecap Pipe, Conduit and SWA - are designed to stop fire spreading through holes made for pipes and conduits, while Firetrap Cable Tray Fire Sleeves are made for cable trays. There is another sleeve specifically for ventilation ducting.
According to Aico, the new sleeves can be used with a range of metal and/or PVC electrical and plumbing products as well as through a variety of fire partitions and floors. They meet UK Building Standards and Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) regulations and claim to provide a two-hour fire and smoke barrier through all common wall constructions and partitions.
The electrical trunking sleeves are available to fit trunking sizes of 50mm by 50mm and 100mm by 100mm, while the other sleeves are suitable for walls up to 150mm wide. The ventilation duct sleeves fit nine different duct sizes, ranging from 100mm by 54mm to 308mm by 29mm.
