Managing 200% year-on-year growth is a problem any company would be happy to have. But when it means finding reliable equipment to handle 25,000 sticky pizza toppings a week, it requires a particular type of partnership.

Bradford-based Anaka Foods, which supplies Indian-style pizzas to supermarkets, cash and carry wholesalers and foodservice companies in northern England, turned to Turbo Systems to get it through a production spike and respond to rapidly changing customer demands.

Turbo installed an indexing conveyor based on a cantilever design with quick release mechanism for easy belt removal and air manifold pipework that allows fast and simple connection to the air supply.

A D150 depositor (above), designed to handle liquids, semi-solids and particulate-based products with lubricant-free pneumatics or electro pneumatic controls, took Anaka's seven varieties of toppings in its stride, accurately placing a programmed amount of sauce and grated cheese.

Although currently producing standard 9in pizzas, the D150 tool-less cleaning and product change-over facility allows Anaka to adjust size and flavours at a whim.

Anaka, which works a single shift, five-day system, said the D150 provided the high level of product flow needed.
