Cosmetics manufacturers have long been singing the praises of plant extracts, but now food and drink firm Carpe Diem has got in on the act with the launch of a flavoured botanical water range.

Each of the three variants is based on feel good factors. Relaxing has a mild minty taste made with passion flower, lemon balm, rose petals, lime flowers and orange peel. In contrast, Vitalising has a light spicy flavour with ginger, lemon grass and cardamon. Meanwhile, Harmonising is a fruity blend of hibiscus, elderflower and blackberry leaves.

Carpe Diem Botanic Water contains no artificial sweeteners, colours or preservatives and will be available in Waitrose, Tesco Express and BP Connect from June. The drink comes in a 500ml bottle and retails at 85p.

Coca-Cola Enterprises is also keen to cash in on the botanical trend and has extended its Oasis brand to include the Fusion range.

The water and fruit juice drinks are marketed at female consumers and come in Passion fruit & Vanilla and Fusion Berry & Elderflower flavours.
