The British Pig Executive has a new board member in the shape of Dalehead md John Hughes.
He takes over from Ashley Bowes, of Bowes of Norfolk, who has completed his term of office.
Hughes, who was nominated by the British Meat Processors Association, has a farming background and joined Dalehead in 1973 as livestock buyer, becoming md in 1999.
Hughes said: "The development of integrated supply chains remains a priority. The BQP/Dalehead/Waitrose model demonstrates what can be achieved through close co-operation between all links in the supply chain.
"I believe a collaborative approach is the only way to defend the interests of the British pig producers, processors and retailers who share a genuine desire to see the industry flourish."
