A fully automated solution for packing fresh meat into trays will be on display on the Ishida Europe stand at the Foodex Meatex Exhibition, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham March 19-22.

Ishida will demonstrate its latest Retail Ready Line (RRL) for fresh produce portioning, weighing and packing. It offers high levels of production efficiency, good quality control and reductions in both product waste and manpower.

The Retail Ready Line can be customised to provide a fully integrated weighing, packing and quality control process, with a tray denester, two filling stations using a Marel portioning machine and an Ishida Fresh Food Weigher (FFW). It can also incorporate a checkweigher, tray sealer, metal detector, weigh-price-labeller, automatic label inspection system and a pick-and-place case packer.

Latest enhancements to the Ishida RRL include a new 'scroll' tray denester that handles a range of tray designs, providing consistent and reliable destacking and allowing changeovers in less than five minutes; and the new Marel OptiCut portion meat cutter.

The Ishida weigh-price-labeller will be linked to a CSB-Standrack to demonstrate the integration of packing machinery into the line. At the same time, the FFW provides accurate weighing and consistent handling of sticky, fresh foods.

Another benefit of the integrated line is that trays are checkweighed prior to being sealed and metal detection is carried out before the trays are labelled, to maximise efficiency and reduce waste. Reject systems remove substandard packs or incomplete cases without stopping the line. The RRL is capable of handling fresh produce, poultry and fish.

Ishida's very latest multi-head weigher, the R Series, will also be demonstrated in a waterproof format for frozen meats.
