Ready meals queue up for wraparound board sleeves
Wraparound board sleeves are winning new converts in ready meals, as well as the already familiar dairy sector, thanks in part to new technology from one machinery supplier.
Kliklok Woodman says its automatic Bowl Orientation System, which can be used on its C150 and C80 Certiwrap sleeving lines, is encouraging more ready meal brands to use this economical alternative to full cartons. It allows oval pots, or those with special flanges to be orientated before being wrapped. The supplier says it has just installed three lines at one UK food producer, with others in Ireland, though these did not require the orientation system.
Rachel's Dairy has just installed a C150 sleeve line for yoghurts. A similar line is due at Premier Foods for its Ambrosia custard.
