Ready meals for weight-watchers
A new range of six chilled ready meals is being produced by Greencore under licence from WeightWatchers International.
Greencore says the meals are packed with flavour, yet low in fat, salt and 'WeightWatchers points'. The portion sizes (which range from 300g to 400g) are designed to be generous to ensure consumers feel satisfied.
Products include a Jacket potato with chilli con carne, Mediterranean vegetable pasta, Moroccan chicken and cous cous, Chicken tikka and coriander rice, Sausage in cider gravy, and Braised beef and mustard mash -- all of which can be microwaved or oven-baked.
Healthy ready meals make up the second largest category in the UK chilled meals sector, worth £231m and growing at over 3% a year, according to market researcher TNS.
The meals will be stocked by Sainsbury, Somerfield, Waitrose and Budgens.
