A novel cook and vacuum cool system was shown by BCH for the first time at the Interpack exhibition in Germany recently. The system cools products very rapidly and features other labour saving benefits.

BCH also launched its new FlexiChef and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) reporting packages.

Celebrating its 170th anniversary this year, BCH took the opportunity to exhibit its newest piece of kit for liquorice/fruit twist confectionery extrusion. In 1835 BCH was the first company to make liquorice presses.

Its latest equipment, producing four colours and four flavours, is aimed at the confectionery and nutraceutical sectors. The new process gives a soft, chewy texture because of the way it is cooked at low temperature.

The company received a number of inquiries from visitors across the globe for systems in liquorice, caramel, marshmallow, chews, candy, and vacuum cook/cool.
