A major investment in leading-edge punch and die technology totalling euro 1m has been made at Anson Foodservice's purpose-built factory in Livingston, Scotland -- the largest investment in the site's history.

The new equipment has trebled Anson's output capacity in the sandwich wedge market. It is being used to manufacture the company's core sandwich pack range to meet increasing customer demand and will also relieve capacity at other Anson sites to grow the company's salad pack range, which is enjoying escalating sales.

Anson Packaging and Foodservice md Andrew Osborne-Smith says: "This investment is a major step forward for us, trebling our existing output and allowing us to maximise the rapidly growing away-from-home market."

The investment was supported by Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh & Lothian. Anson Foodservice is part of Avro Industries, which comprises Anson Packaging, Anson Foodservice and Jardin Corrugated.

The 3,000m2Livingston site, which employs 58 staff, has recently launched a new Fresco salad pack for the foodservice market, which won a silver award in the Starpack Awards 2004.
