Demand for individual drinks bottles is on the increase as food-on-the-go grows in popularity. Tetra Pak's latest packaging aims to capture children's imagination and make liquid dairy products stand out from their fizzy rivals.

Tetra Brik Square Mini is available in 200ml and 250ml sizes and its creator is convinced that the carton's unusual cubic shape will make the packaging fun for children.

From a practical viewpoint, the cartons are more suitable for youngsters than their plastic cup competitors because children can't accidentally spill the liquid, says product manager Bo Pettersson.

The company claims to have strong interest from Asia and testing is already going ahead in Haruna Dairy in Japan where the cartons are being used for school milk.
