Premier Foods has seen two successful pickle brand tie-ups launched this month. Snack maker United Biscuits (UB) has introduced Mini Cheddars in a Branston pickle flavour while Dairy Crest has unveiled a Cathedral City lunch snack pack containing the pickle.

Mini Cheddars lead the baked bagged snack sector and UB has already seen growth with its peperami variant which generated an extra £1m in sales. Now it hopes to have similar luck with the new Branston variant.

Meanwhile, Dairy Crest has produced a lunch pack which combines four 12.5g slices of leading cheddar cheese Cathedral City, along with four Jacob's cream crackers and a 40g serving of Branston pickle. The pack will retail at £1.09.

This is the third Cathedral City snack brand the company has developed for the adult market. Its dip-to-go sticks of cheddar with Branston pickle dip was launched at the end of 2003 and it also offers Cathedral City Sliced, a pack of 10 20g slices for snacking.
