Bosch Packaging Technology has unveiled the first model of a new generation of extruders. When used in combination with the company's RotoTwin ball-forming machine, the RopeX 1010, it can achieve outputs of up to 2000kg/h.

The equipment can be used as a pre-extruder and co-extruder and for forming and filling in the processing of chewing gum, chewy candy, and similar products. A twin-mould mechanism has doubled the output of the RotoTwin.

The modular design of the extruder allows a variety of post-fitting options, such as a fill pump for liquid-filled ropes and a metering unit for powdered fillings.

To ensure synchronisation with the requirements of an application, the drive mechanisms for the feeding drums and the extruder screw of the RopeX can be regulated separately. Engagement and disengagement of the feeding drives takes place without manual intervention.

Other features claimed for the product include temperature control at all times during the extrusion process, optimum mixing of product and of pressure in the extruder head, and ease of cleaning.
