Ingredients distributor Fiske, part of the Univar group, is to expand its operations this year by opening offices in central Europe and taking on the distribution of biotechnological food enzymes for the first time in the UK.
Fiske, which is already represented in 14 countries in western Europe, is opening a new German site and has a joint venture in Turkey.
It has a turnover in excess of euro 200m.
The company operates a warehouse in Milton Keynes, which has been upgraded at a cost of around £1m, for synthetic, natural and functional food and drink ingredients .
Neil Blackburn, Fiske's European brand director, described the move in to enzyme distribution as "very exciting for us"
