Pete and Johnny (PJ), the self-claimed founder of the UK smoothie market back in the early 90s, says it is re-energising the sector to appeal to a new generation of smoothie consumers.

As well as revamping its original branding to create a more modern image, the company has launched two new flavours -- Apples & Blackcurrants under its Pure Fruit Smoothies range and Blackcurrants & Yoghurt as part of its Fruit Smoothies and Yoghurt offerings.

The new products follow findings from a survey PJ conducted of over 7,000 people that showed that blackcurrants were the latest fruit consumers wanted in their smoothies.

PJ has also launched its smoothies in larger 500ml bottles for male consumers after its research discovered that males wanted bigger single servings of the drinks.
