The introduction of automatic guillotine cutters on Alpma's Cut 25M has enabled the output of fixed weight cheese pieces to peak at a maximum of 300/min.
By having the cutting blade form two pieces at each stroke, the wider-bed machine gives a dramatic increase in output of fixed weight cheeses.
The first high-speed line was installed at Dairygold, Aeron Valley in March 2003 and has consistently performed at overall line speeds of 200/min on portions of 200 and 250g. The overall investment in the cutting equipment was £475,000.
Full automation and flexibility of the shape of cheese pieces can also be achieved.
