Unilever Bestfoods (UBF) has selected Power Europe, an Exel company, to develop and manage a new automated national distribution centre at Kingswood Lakeside in Cannock, Staffordshire.

This multi-million pound, long-term arrangement is central to UBF's distribution strategy. The facility, which occupies 37,160m2 and comprises a 31.5m tall, high-bay warehouse, will handle all the company's ambient products, combining three existing operations into one. Some of the brands involved include Knorr, Ragu, Hellmann's, Pot Noodle, Coleman's, Marmite, Brooke Bond and Lipton.

This will be the third automated facility for Unilever in the UK to be designed, project managed and operated by Power Europe. The project is due to be completed by September 2005.
