Food industry job recruitment surges, suggesting market recovery
The site has recorded a 20% uplift week-on-week in job postings, indicating an incipient bounce-back from Government working restrictions imposed to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic, according to commercial director - recruitment Zoe Cooper.
“We are definitely seeing the beginning of green shoots within the food and drink recruitment market following the Government decision to allow those in manufacturing back to work," said Cooper. "With over 7.5m people currently furloughed, we do need to remain cautious, but it’s great to start seeing a re-awaking of the British economy.”
Recent postings include a full-time food technologist at cheesemaker Bradburys. The successful candidate would work with the technical and quality team to provide a high level of accuracy and information for customers through working with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Key areas of responsibility would include:
- Management of raw material and packaging supplier specifications;
- Facilitating and coordinating the new product development process and managing new lines from from a technical perspective;
- Informing the business of policy and procedural changes from each customer and facilitating the implementation of these changes
Packaging technologist, McCormick UK
A packaging technologist position at McCormick UK is also up for grabs. Reporting to the flavour solutions packaging manager, the aim of the role is to manage UK packaging development, ensuring this meets consumer and customer needs and follows regulatory requirements. The post incorporates responsibilities such as:
- establishing packaging standards via factory trials to ensure that proposed packaging materials are fit for purpose and to gain approval from all relevant parties;
- timely completion of packaging workflows
- involvement in technical validation of new packaging equipment
Assistant farm manager, Noble Foods
Additionally, egg supplier Noble Foods is advertising for an assistant farm manager role. The right candidate would take responsibility for:
- bird welfare;
- health & safety;
- bio-security;
- record keeping;
- workforce management;
