It takes a bold company to opt for an unannounced BRC audit two years in a row, but Northern Ireland-based Mash Direct has every reason to feel confident after picking up the Small Company of the Year award at this year's Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards.

To find out exactly what makes this innovative supplier of quick-serve mashed veg tick, Food Manufacture's deputy editor Rod Addy caught up with co-founder Tracy Hamilton after the awards ceremony at the Savoy hotel in London.
