Leatherhead Food Research has appointed former Marks & Spencer nutritionist Jenny Arthur to the newly created role of director of nutrition and innovation.

Arthur will lead the nutrition and innovation team of scientists and technicians at the Surrey-based research organisation.

She initially joined Leatherhead in 2014 as boss of its strategic insight team and has also previously ran her own nutrition and marketing consultancy.
Leatherhead said her wide mix of expertise was exactly what was needed for the growing number of requests for cross-functional projects by its clients.

“Arthur’s industry experience and nutrition expertise will be a real asset for the important remit of nutrition and innovation and supports the new structure that Leatherhead is putting in place for greater engagement with our customers,” Dr Geoff Spriegel, Leatherhead Food Research’s ceo, added.
Key consideration

Arthur said: “Nutrition is increasingly a key consideration within new product development and product innovation and I’m looking forward to the role I’ll be able to play in directing valuable new services.”

Meanwhile, Innovation in food and drink will be the focus of a one-day conference on June 26, staged by FoodManufacture.co.uk’s publisher William Reed Business Media.

New Frontiers in Food and Drink will be run in partnership with our sister titles: British Baker, Meat Trades Journal and The Grocer at etc.venues, St Pauls, London.
