BV Dairy's anaerobic digestion plant turns waste into energy

A relatively small dairy site in Dorset is receiving international attention for its pioneering anaerobic digestion (AD) plant.

The plant at BV Dairy in Shaftesbury, Dorset, takes the waste products from the production process and turns it into energy that is used in the factory.

The plant is a UK AD demonstration site and has been visited by overseas governments as well as major manufacturers such as Diageo and Nestlé as they sought to tap into its success.
