2 Sisters Food Group is staging a series of recruitment events in the East Midlands in a bid to fill dozens of vacancies of manufacturing and other roles.

The first event, to fill roles at the manufacturer’s Europarc facility at Wykeland in north east Lincolnshire, will take place tomorrow (May 17).

The recruitment drive is to fill vacancies in food manufacturing, batching, packaging and warehouse and dispatching roles.

Previous experience of food manufacturing, packaging or logistics was not an essential requirement for any of the roles. Candidates aged 18 and over were invited to attend.

2 Sisters’ site human resources manager Rob Hughes said the events were planned as an opportunity for candidates to learn more about food industry roles.

Insight into life at 2 Sisters

During the recruitment event, targeted at candidates in the Grimsby and the surrounding area, attendees will be gain an insight into life at 2 Sisters, while taking part in assessments, group discussions and activities.

“We are looking for people with great attitude and we can train them with the skills and the knowledge they need to do the job,”​ said Hughes.

The manufacturer was growing as a business and going through a period of long-term recruitment, Hughes told the Grimsby Telegraph​.

The latest round of recruitment was designed to fill current vacancies and those for later in the year. “We are looking to recruit people and have vacancies available immediately, but we are also looking ahead to when we get busier during the winter.”

2 Sisters also revealed plans to recruit a multi-skilled engineering team leader and various management roles later this year.

The manufacturer’s general manager at the Grimsby site Mark Carnaghan highlighted the potential for career development.

“There are opportunities to progress and we are hoping to develop our summer business so we can take more people on full-time,”​ said Carnaghan.

Energy and passion

The business was looking for people with energy and passion who were not content to accept the the status quo, he added.

Further recruitment events are scheduled for Tuesday May 31, Tuesday June 14 and Monday June 20. The events will take place at 2 Sisters Food Group’s site at Recipe Dish, Unit 1, Europarc.

Meanwhile, during the Food Manufacture Group’s Big Video Debate on apprenticeships at Foodex, Justine Fosh, chief executive of the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink, revealed that the latest shortfall of skilled workers in the industry was likely to be revised up from 107,000 to 130,000 people​ between now and by 2025.
