Product containing undeclared nuts recalled

P&B Foods has recalled a batch of tinned korma sauce because it contained an allergen that is not declared on the label.

The wholesale business informed the Food Standards Agency (FSA) that it had recalled the batch of Heera-branded Navratan korma on 26 November 2024, before issuing an update with further information the next day.

Because the label does not mention that the korma contains cashew nuts, there is a possible health risk for anyone with a nut allergy that mistakenly consumes it.

The recalled batch of Navratan korma is sold in 450g tins, and has a batch code of 2402292 and 30 June 2026 best before date.

Heera is a food brand owned by P&B Foods that manufactures ready-to-eat curries, drinks, pastes, pickles, chutneys, flours, rice, spice blends and naans.

‘Do not eat’

The FSA has advised P&B Foods to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The wholesaler has also issued point-of-sale notices that explain to customers why the product is being recalled.

“If you have bought the above-mentioned product and you have an allergy to nuts, do not consume this product,” the notices read.

“You should return the product to the store where you bought it from for a full refund, with or without a receipt. No other Heera products are affected by this recall. P&B (Foods) Limited wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Consumers can also contact P&B Foods, which is based in Bradford, directly if they have any further questions.

FSA open meeting agenda published

Meanwhile, the FSA has published the agenda ahead of its next open board meeting, due to be held on 11 December in London.

The meeting will be led by FSA chair Professor Susan Jebb, who it was recently announced will serve a second three-year term in the role.

Topics on the agenda include national level regulation, evaluation of the meat charging regime and CBD novel food applications.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting or watch it online, and are also able to submit questions ahead of the event.
