Regal Food Products Group is acquiring Packaging ‘R’ Us for an undisclosed amount, the firm has announced.

The packaging manufacturer and supplier will be added to the group’s portfolio of businesses which includes Regal Foods and Yorkshire Baking Company.

Packaging ‘R’ Us is the first non-food and drink business to be acquired by Regal Food Products Group, with the organisation aiming to offer a more diverse range of products and strengthen its wholesale offering.

Specialising in disposable food packaging solutions, Packaging ‘R’ Us produces foil containers, catering foil, disposable utensils and plastic containers. As a result of the acquisition, its operations will be relocated to Bradford where Regal Food Products Group has its main manufacturing and distribution facilities.

New jobs created

Reflecting on the deal, Regal Food Products Group chief executive, Younis Chaudhry, described the move as an “exciting milestone” given that Packaging ‘R’ Us is the first non-food and drink brand to join it portfolio.

Following on from our Just Desserts Yorkshire acquisition 18 months ago, we are delighted to be bringing our first non-food and drink business into the Regal group,” Chaudhry said.

Acquiring Packaging ‘R’ Us will allow to develop our wholesale arm of the business, whilst offering our customers an eclectic range that will naturally sit alongside our existing products and brands.”

The relocation of Packaging ‘R’ Us to Bradford will lead to the generation of new jobs in the area, Chaudhry confirmed.

As a PLC we recognised a business that presented itself with opportunities and using our existing teams, manufacturing expertise, distribution networks and channels to market, we can really build and scale what is already a great business,” said Chaudhry.

As a business that has the Bradford community close to its heart, we are pleased the new production site will create approximately 20 new jobs offering employment in a range of keys areas, whilst providing platforms and opportunities for personal development.”
