Bakkavor Group has announced it is seeking 60 applicants for its September intake of apprentices as National Apprenticeship Week 2022 begins.

The company's apprenticeship programme provides opportunities to gain Intermediate, Higher or Advanced Apprenticeships in a range of specialisms. These include engineering, finance, HR, hygiene, learning & development, manufacturing, process technology, product development, Safety Health & Environment, supply chain, warehouse & logistics, facilities management and continuous improvement.

The move represents an increase of 16 apprenticeships on the previous year and the business said it demonstrated Bakkavor’s Early Careers commitment to modern day apprenticeships.

Bakkavor has been running its apprenticeship programme for nine years and offers two levels of apprenticeship designed to combine employment, on-the job learning and work-based training.

The Advanced Apprenticeship runs for two years and is aimed at school leavers, typically those that have completed GCSEs and are starting in a new career. As an exception, Bakkavor’s Advanced Engineering Apprenticeships run for four years.

In most cases, the Higher Apprenticeship runs for two years and is aimed at those who have typically gained A-Level qualifications and are hoping to fast-track their career. As exceptions, Bakkavor’s Engineering and Procurement Higher Apprenticeships last for four years.

Real responsibility

Applicants who make it through to the programme would experience real responsibility from day one, contributing to key business activities and projects, while also studying towards a nationally recognised qualification according to Bakkavor. They would also develop valuable life skills by getting involved in community projects, local charity initiatives and school engagement.

"Our people are our most important asset, and we are now looking for the next generation of talented individuals to join our talent pipeline and gain real work experience and responsibility from day one," Donna-Maria Lee, chief people officer at Bakkavor Group, said.

"Bakkavor’s apprenticeship programmes offer a broad range of opportunities for people interested in starting a career with us, in a fast-moving and dynamic business.”
