Vegan Boost replicates buttery and creamy flavours

International Taste Solutions (I.T.S) has developed a new range of natural flavour enhancers that replicate the indulgent characteristics of traditional bakery products in dairy and egg-free alternatives.

Available in liquid and powder formats, Vegan Boost was billed as an all-in-one solution to improve the sensory quality of a range of plant-based cake and patisserie products by “accentuating buttery and creamy flavours”.​ A higher strength range, Vegan Boost Extra, is also available if more intense flavours are required.

Carl Smith, Head of Innovations at I.T.S, said: “Consumer demand for plant-based products is rising, but until now the bakery sector has been a little behind the curve.

“We set about creating a straightforward alternative to the options currently available from the larger flavour houses. Vegan Boost offers no-nonsense flavours, and it provides an easy-to-use solution that is proven to work.”

 

Gro expands meat-free range

Co-op’s meat-alternative ready meals range Gro has launched seven new products to tie in with Veganuary 2022.

The new additions to the rage focus on comfort-food favourites, such as the No Beef Pie, Fishless Fillet and Chips and Gunpowder Potato Masala.

Jonny Lambert, wholesale category lead for Co-op said: “Meat alternatives and ready meals are amongst the most popular vegan products that shoppers try during January.

“The bold, eye-catching packaging makes GRO products easy to spot in store and the imaginative recipes will keep shoppers coming back for more.”

GRO products are available in a wide range of categories including Food To Go and Snacking, Pastry and Meat Alternatives, Ready Meals, Desserts and Sauces as well as Frozen.

Pack’d launches into Morrisons stores

Pack’d has secured a deal to supply retailer Morrisons with its Superfood Smoothie Kits and organic Frozen Fruit.

More than 400 stores in the UK will now stock the brand’s Energy; Power and Vitality Smoothies, as well as the frozen Organic Blueberries and frozen Avocado.

Founder, Alex Stewart said: “Securing a listing with Morrisons is just a fantastic milestone for us. We have seen unprecedented growth in the last 12 months, with 50% growth year on year, so this added store presence will almost certainly have a huge impact on the business.

“At a time when good news is thin on the ground, not least for SME’s, we are very excited to celebrate this next step for PACK'D​ ​, and look forward to a very busy 2022.”

 

Vegan maize snacks join Crave line-up

Vegan snack brand Crave has launched two new maize snack to join its existing line of free-from chocolate bars.

Pickled Onion Monster Feet and Smokey Flavoured Streakers – listed on TheVeganKind Supermarket – are gluten-free, lactose-free, milk-free and vegan.

Rob Brice said: “We wanted to develop a range of snacks which revolutionise the free from range, instead of bland and boring we set out to create some snacks which are tongue-in-cheek, fun and full of flavour.

“Our mission was to create snacks that are normal, for too long those with allergies, intolerances or following a vegan diet have had to miss out, hunt for bland alternatives or frankly products that taste a bit shit.”

Cauldron goes carbon neutral

Plant-based meat alternatives firm Cauldron Foods will be the first UK meat free brand to achieve carbon neutrality for its entire range of products from January 2022.

Cauldron Foods is working with ClimatePartner and committing to several measures to avoid, reduce and offset emissions. The shift has been supported by a full packaging redevelopment and range relaunch.

Tom Lindley, head of Cauldron, said: “We’re so proud to be the first in the category to achieve carbon neutral status on every single one of our delicious Cauldron products, through our work with ClimatePartner. 

“Consumer awareness around the climate crisis is at an all-time high, so there’s no better time to be making these steps. Eating more plant-based foods and less meat and dairy is one of the best and easiest ways that everyone can do their bit for the environment, by reducing their individual carbon footprint.”
