ABP launches new training and development programme
The ‘Homegrown’ programme is the latest addition to the manufacturer’s Talent Academy that launched in 2016, which provides opportunities spanning from early career pathways through to leadership and senior development programmes.
All members of the ABP team will be trained with a tailored approach to target individual needs, with workshops, e-learning modules and toolbox talks developed to advance employees in a range of areas and specific role needs – including trimming and boning, to motivation, wellbeing and communication.
Upskilling staff
Alongside upskilling existing staff, ABP’s new programme also aimed to support new entrants into the food and drink industry by updating the manufacturers graduate and apprenticeship programmes.
Opportunities available through the graduate and apprenticeship schemes included butchery, finance, food science, processing, health and safety and retail operations.

Meanwhile, poultry Processor Moy Park has launched a new apprenticeship programme in a bid to nurture the next generation of talent in the food and drink industry.
The four-year apprenticeship programme – open for applicants across Northern Ireland and Great Britain – will provide apprentices with mentorship support and access to additional learning and development schemes with Moy Park’s engineering team.
The class-based curriculum, developed in partnership with local colleges and training partners, will include modules on the latest technical trends and engineering advancements as well as problem solving techniques.
