Ireland-based Kerry Group has announced the appointment of Thomas Hahlin Ahlinder to the role of president and chief executive officer, Taste & Nutrition, Europe.

This follows the appointment of the former encumbent of that role Malcolm Sheil to the new role of chief commercial officer in July 2020. It also comes after Nick Robinson was named CEO of Kerry Foods, the group's consumer foods division, also in July.

Hahlin Ahlinder brings more than 20 years of commercial leadership experience and industry knowledge to the company, including a strong network of customer relationships within the global and European taste, nutrition and health market.

Before joining Kerry, he held a variety of roles across Europe at businesses such as Danisco, Kivik Holdings and DuPont Nutrition and Health. He was most recently an executive board member at Döhler, the international natural food and beverage ingredients conmpany.

Sustainable nutrition

“I am delighted to welcome Thomas to this key leadership role as we work towards our vision of being our customers’ most valued partner, creating a world of sustainable nutrition," said Gerry Behan, chief executive officer of Kerry Taste & Nutrition, commenting on the announcement.

"Our Europe region saw a significant improvement in the third quarter of this year with strong growth and business development across several areas including plant-based alternatives, snacks and the retail channel.”

Hahlin Ahlinder said: “Kerry is a company with a rich history of market-driven and customer-connected innovation, a true leader in the taste and nutrition space and I look forward to working with the team on the next phase of growth.”

In August, Kerry Group reported a strong retail performance in beverages, meat and snacks in its interim management report.
