2 Sisters launches coronavirus recruitment campaign
The manufacturer is offering roles at sites across the country – including Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire and Cullompton, Devon – in packaging, dispatch and preparation.
This wave of recruitment followed reports that food manufacturers have had to boost production by 50% to cope with consumers panic-buying during the coronavirus pandemic.

A 2 Sisters spokesman said: “The Government has rightly classified our colleagues in a critical sector and we are currently working in extremely challenging conditions to fulfil orders at the same time as keeping everyone safe.

The coronavirus has prompted the food industry to unite in efforts to ensure essential services are maintained to keep consumers fed.
“The business is experiencing unprecedented levels of demand for food across its division – poultry, meals solutions and bakery – so we are very keen to help those who may be out of work as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
“Applicants can be interviewed very quickly and, hopefully, we can accommodate as many people as possible. We will do all we can to help those whose livelihoods have been affected by this crisis.”
A number of businesses in the food and drink industry have stepped up their recruitment efforts in a bid to weather the impact of the coronavirus.
Industry recruitment
Noble Foods said the company was looking to recruit to cover any potential staff illnesses and drivers, in order to build a bank of cover staff should any of the existing team become unwell and unable to work.
Meanwhile, up to 50 jobs could be created at Fox’s Biscuits’ Kirkham, Lancashire site as a result of a transition to 24/7 production at the factory.
The biscuit maker is to launch a consultation with employees at the site over the proposed change to operating times, which would see workers move to 12-hour shifts on a four days on, four days off rota.
