Data from Food Manufacture’s Food Safety Briefing: 2020 and beyond – a new era for food standards showed that more than 33% of people surveyed were positive that a departure from the EU would not hit standards in future. But some 52.6% disagreed, highlighting an ongoing concern.
Speaking at the online event held in October, Food Manufacture editor Rod Addy said the question was posed to canvass industry views rather than to gauge whether Brexit was a bad thing. “This highlights the challenge of Brexit,” he added. “There’s still considerable concern that standards may be compromised.”
Meanwhile, more than 66% of respondents voiced worries on terrorism and cyber-terrorism.
