The meat industry descended on London in full force at this year’s Butchers’ and Drovers’ Charitable Institution (BDCI) annual dinner.

Held at the Whitbread Brewery building in the City, the event celebrated the evolution of the meat industry and the achievements of all those working in it.

Guest speaker Matt Dawson, former England rugby captain, regaled guests with stories of his time in the sport and his brief foray into the meat industry with his own brand of sausages.

This year’s BDCI festival chairman and Cranswick chief operating officer Chris Aldersley commented: “What a fantastic evening at the first BDCI Festival Dinner at The Brewery, it was a great pleasure and honour to host the event.”

The BDCI raised money throughout the night with its successful silent auction and a heads-or-tails fundraising event.

Edward Hoefling, BDCI treasurer, added: “This year’s BDCI Festival Dinner was an outstanding success, many thanks to Chris Aldersley for all his hard work and to all those who attended and contributed so much in terms of time and money to make the evening such a success.”
