Gü Puds and Happy Egg owner Noble Foods has won planning permission to extend its factory in Lincolnshire.

North Kesteven District Council approved the proposal, which will see 929m2 of additional floor space added to the north of Noble’s egg packing site in North Scarle, near Lincoln.

The new space will be used to accommodate the installation of automatic palletisers, which require a ceiling height of five metres to operate.

Works approved in the planning document included the alteration of two existing docks, reconfiguration of access to the lorry yard and screening mound, and the relocation of an existing lorry wash.

Increase in footprint

In its approval document, the council said: “[The proposed extension] together with the creation of a melange dock and canopy infill, are the areas of the scheme which will see the increase in footprint. All other development is considered to be relatively minor, consisting of repositioning of most elements.

“The proposed materials remain in keeping with the existing structure seeing a green metal cladding finish. Reconfiguration of the bund will aid the future screening of the proposed development. The officer recommendation is therefore one of approval.”

Meanwhile, breakfast cereal manufacturer Weetabix has been given the green light to build a new production line at its manufacturing plant in Corby, Northamptonshire.
