Bakery ingredients supplier invests £3m in development
Pecan Deluxe Candy (Europe) has invested £3m in upgrading and extending its manufacturing facilities at its Sherburn-in-Elmet site near Leeds, Yorkshire.

It has implemented the makeover during the past 12 months, including expansion of its warehousing, logistics and manufacturing areas, and the installation of a new cold extrusion line to help meet increasing demand for its flagship product cookie dough. Pecan Deluxe is the largest supplier of cookie dough to the dessert industry within Europe.

According to the company, the expansion has improved access between various production and storage units to increase efficiency through the reduction of stock movements. It said that a series of new equipment installations would increase production capacities in the chocolate moulding and bakery areas. Employees have also benefited from an updated and extended working environment.

It said there was increasing demand for its ingredients and the investment also included the installation of loading canopies and the addition of new on-site frozen storage units, powered by a new, dedicated substation.

“Pecan Deluxe Candy Europe already has an outstanding reputation in the industry for producing innovative inclusions that really work on an industrial scale, across almost any application with the food and beverage sectors,” said EMEA and APAC managing director Graham Kingston.

“Still, we’re never content to rest on our laurels and this massive investment will enable us to meet demand even more effectively and efficiently going forward – most notably with the addition of the new cold extrusion line to ensure our hundreds of well-known food manufacturer customers across Europe continue to receive timely deliveries of our delicious and versatile cookie doughs.”

All Pecan Deluxe products, including cookie doughs, moulded chocolate shapes, fudge and brownie pieces and praline nuts, are made using natural colours and flavourings in allergen-controlled facilities.
