Time is running out to cast your vote for who you think which industry leader should receive the 2018 Business Leader Award as part of this year’s Food Manufacture Excellence Awards (FMEAs).

The candidates are: Adam Couch, chief executive officer (CEO) of Cranswick, Premier Foods CEO Gavin Darby, Wayne Hudson, Birds Eye UK & Ireland managing director, Adelie Foods Group CEO Martin Johnson, Nestlé UK chairman Fiona Kendrick and Ian Noble, Mondelēz International’s senior research, development and quality director.

The shortlist was drawn up by the editorial team following input from the FMEAs judging panel, which collectively boasts more than 100 years of experience working in the food supply chain.

The winner should embody the qualities the FMEAs are designed to promote, namely excellence in food and drink processing. They should be someone who provides an example for others to follow, achieving and inspiring a positive impact on their business and the wider sector.

19 October deadline

Voting takes place online and will run until 19 October, so make your nomination now. The winner will be announced alongside the winners of the other FMEAs on 7 November at a black-tie drinks reception and gala dinner held at the Hilton on Park Lane in London.

This year’s awards include several new features, such as overall awards for Big Company of the Year and Small Company of the Year, in recognition of the distinctive challenges faced by both camps.

In fact, the Chilled, Fresh & Dairy Company of the Year category has been split in two. Separate finalist groups have been created for companies with turnovers of £10m and above and those with turnovers below this amount, partly also reflecting the level of entries.

The distinguished list of finalists, therefore, includes big names such as Coca-Cola European Partners, PepsiCo, Weetabix, Tulip, ABP, Finsbury Food Group and Synergy Flavours. It also includes innovative companies such as Hilltop Honey, Terry’s Patisserie and Davison Canners.

One business from the list of main category winners will also win the overall award Food Manufacture Company of the Year. All will be revealed on the night.

Book your tickets for the Big Top-themed event, which affords an unparalleled opportunity for managers in their sector to reward their teams, network with their peers and celebrate their achievements. Call Jessica Rooke on 01293 610439 or email her at Wrffvpn.ebbxr@jeoz.pbz.

The FMEAs are kindly sponsored by KDH Projects, Systems Integration, Foodex and Rappor.
