Iced drinks manufacturer Polar Krush has reported its best summer to date after sales increased by 60% - boosted, it said, by its decision to switch its full range to sugar-free recipes.

The firm, based in the north east, said it had experienced the record growth after seeing similar increases in dispatch and production in the equivalent summer period in 2017.

Michael Reid, sales director at Polar Krush, said: “We’ve had an extremely busy summer, with sales soaring, which is great news for the company.

“The unprecedented levels of sales, production and dispatch has meant the factory’s new automated plant has been running tirelessly, which has had a positive impact on employees seeing weekend, late evening and additional shifts added to the factory’s busy rota.”

Over the summer period, Karl Rogers was promoted internally to become full-time production supervisor.

He is responsible for leading and developing the skills within the production team to focus on more efficient production.

Along with additional scheduled hours for the team, his appointment is designed to ensure that Polar Krush stays ahead of the season’s high demand, said the company, which also revealed there would be more expansion, with new positions planned for later in the year. 

Rogers said: “As production supervisor, my focus will shift from working between warehouse and production, to leading the production team, with the emphasis being on the increase in output and the overall smooth running of the manufacturing operation.”

Polar Krush serves over 15m cups each year worldwide. The global iced drinks company acquired its competitor Slushee UK in June 2018​.

Polar Krush said it was the UK’s fastest-growing manufacturer of iced drinks, supplying 3,000 stockists nationwide.

Its recipes are all sugar-free and sweetened naturally with stevia. Polar Krush comes in 11 flavours, contains natural colours and flavours, and is supported with a full range of cups and accessories.
