Up to six jobs may be lost at Nestlé's Tutbury site in Derbyshire
Nestlé is set to make job cuts at its Tutbury coffee production facility in Hatton, Derbyshire.

The food and drink manufacturer confirmed that “five or six” jobs were under threat, with a consultation on the roles currently occurring. There are 900 people employed at the site.

Burton Live had reportedly received an email from an employee who wished to remain anonymous regarding the job losses and claimed the employees in question had not been consulted about the situation.

It said: “Letters of warning of possible redundancies have been already handed to the threatened staff (24th July) just after the management's announcement, taking place during one of the meetings with employees, that there will be no redundancies within the factory.

“The group of people is in a so-called consultation period now. Before this fact, none of them was aware of any steps taken regarding the changes mentioned above. None has been informed about any kind of negotiations.

“The whole process since the beginning seems to be organised hastily. The intensity of the frustration and pressure the group of people have been subjected to since the date mentioned above is hardly bearable.”

In response, a Nestlé spokesperson said: “There are proposed changes at our Tutbury factory, which could result in a small number of roles being made redundant, and we are speaking to the individuals affected.”

The facility had appeared on BBC’s Inside the Factory last month with host Gregg Wallace learning about the production of freeze-dried coffee. It also received a £325m investment two years ago, which helped created 425 jobs at the plant.
