The Food Storage and Distribution Federation (FSDF) has appointed Shane Brennan as its new chief executive.

His appointment follows the retirement of former chief executive Chris Sturman after nine years at the body’s helm.

Brennan joined from the County Land and Business Association, where he served as external affairs director, representing farmers and landowners.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining the FSDF at this crucial time. Our members will be at the forefront of navigating the food industry through the challenges and opportunities of Brexit.”

FSDF president Tim Moran commended Brennan on his skills and industry knowledge. “The food logistics industry has many challenges ahead ... with retailer and customer consolidation [and] the uncertainties of Brexit. These factors make Shane’s appointment pivotal to the next phase in the FSDF’s life cycle.”
