Jobs saved as sauce manufacturer bought out of administration

Curry and sauces manufacturer Simano Foods has been rescued from administration, saving 11 jobs at the Wigan-based business.

Mark Colman and John Titley of Leonard Curtis Business Rescue and Recovery were appointed administrators for the business on 8 May last week.

The business entered administration as a result of unforeseen losses on a number of major contracts, which meant the company suffered a build-up of trade liabilities.

According to Leonard Curtis, legal action was imminent for Simano, prompting directors to take appropriate steps to help preserve the business.

Pre-packaged sale

A spokesman said: “The administrators concluded a pre-packaged sale of the business to a connected party after an extensive period of marketing. This resulted in the transfer of 11 employees to the new purchasing entity.”

The sale of the business was for an undisclosed amount.

Established in 1992 and previously operating as Patasco Spices, Simano Foods manufactures ambient sauces, condiments, ready meals and snacks.

The company has a number of brands under its belt, including Pasco, New York Chilli, Curry Express and The Fancy Snack Company.

Meanwhile, in February, Hamsard 3471 acquired Wimbledon-based fruit and vegetable supplier Solstice out of administration, saving 62 jobs.
