Dalehead Foods, a division of Tulip, is to take on 40 new staff at its Spalding site in Lincolnshire.

The business attributes this demand for more staff to increased production at the site.

The 35,000m2​ site is looking for both skilled and unskilled workers to join its team from June as butchers, to support an increasing production of high-welfare pork. It currently employs 550 staff at the facility.

The site, which has been in operation since 1950, recently underwent a refurbishment with a focus on robotics.

The business is to host an open day to allow potential employees to learn more about the roles which will take place in Spalding on Friday 11 May.

Abigail Brewin, HR manager at Dalehead Foods, said: “We’re pleased to announce this recruitment drive, showing our on-going commitment as a major local employer in the Spalding area. The Dalehead Foods site in Spalding has a great team spirit and provides a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and progress with a career in the food industry.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming new people to join our team. It is an active role and we’re searching for motivated applicants who enjoy manual work, including lifting, and being on their feet for most of the working day.”

Dalehead’s parent company Tulip recently announced that it has entered into consultation over 170 jobs​ at its Bodmin facility in Cornwall. It claims the consultation is down to a “significant fall in production volumes at the site due to loss of business”​.
