Bakkavor to recruit 30 people

The roles are within a number of different functions including production, hygiene, engineering, health & safety, and logistics.
The two sites, which currently employ more than 670 people, produce over 11 million bread items each week with an average of 50 different types of product, including flatbreads, doughballs, garlic baguettes & slices, being run at any one time.
Paul Peachey, business director for Bakkavor Bread & Pizza said: “Bakkavor Bread is on a roll and we are keen to welcome anyone who is wants to rise to the challenge and get in on a slice of the action.”
The business recruited over 2,500 in 2017, bringing its workforce to more than 19,000 people. In March it announced plans to recruit 26 new apprentices this year.
In its full-year results Bakkavor reported a 5.4% increase in like-for-like revenue. The business reported that the second half of 2017 saw volume growth impacted due to inflationary pressure however it expects this to return to growth benefitting from “improved marketing conditions and new business”.
