Best new use of food ingredients
WINNER: Kendal Nutricare
Kendal Nutricare’s entry in this category stood out in another fiercely contested category. The manufacturer’s decision to use full-cream dairy in its baby formula – rather than the more commonly-used skimmed dairy products – caught the judges’ attention.
Also, its Kendamil brand is palm oil-free and takes its omega-3 content from natural marine algae, rather than fish, as is more common.
Kendal Nutricare claims that Kendamil has shaken up the infant formula market by rejecting cost-engineering. It aims to deliver health benefits to babies and toddlers, and provenance and traceability to their parents.
